Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
BPO is when a company contractually delegates or moves some of its operations or processes to a third-party company. The original company retains ownership and responsibility for the process and its performance while working closely with the BPO supplier to ensure the process is performed properly and within the guidelines and agreed upon service levels. Some common examples of BPO processes are customer service, administrative functions, accounting and collections.
Why Outsource?
The main reason companies outsource business processes is to allow them to move resources (people and dollars) to activities that are considered core to retaining or growing their business.
Here are some other benefits to BPO:
- Decrease costs
- Increase quality and service
- Increase efficiencies
- Re-engineer processes
- Document and define processes
- Consolidate locations/platforms
- Increase service hours
