London, May 10, 2018 – Worldpay Inc., a global leader in payments, was selected by Viva Aerobus, one of Mexico´s leading low-cost airlines to support the company´s aggressive expansion plans. Viva is the fourth largest airline company in Mexico and one of the fastest growing airlines in the world. With its rapid growth, the airline has had to adapt its technology to support a new, more complex payment landscape, which includes customers from abroad purchasing tickets using international credit cards via various currencies. Through this change, Viva Aerobus has strengthened its commitment to improve the customer experience and serve the needs of its clients.

Viva needed to improve the acceptance rate of international transactions. To achieve this, they required a payment partner who understood the nuances of consumer behavior and payment processing flows in each market they were entering. “Processing sales for consumers in different markets across the world can be very complex, there are local banking and industry regulations that merchants must adhere to – and these vary depending on the region a company operates in and where it is based. The ultimate challenge is in attracting as many good sales, as quickly and securely as possible, whilst at the same time blocking potentially fraudulent sales, to protect the company’s income and ultimately its profit. This is Worldpay´s expertise and so it was only natural that our partnership with Viva Aerobus would generate incredible results,” stated Juan D´Antiochia, Worldpay´s General Manager in Latin America.

Through Worldpay's cross-border solutions and network of local licenses for processing payments, Viva was able to optimize its international payments and reach more consumers around the world. "With Worldpay, we discovered benefits beyond our expectation; we increased the acceptance rate of transactions by over 40% within the first month of implementation and consequently increased sales volume for international routes. We had a full return on investment within the first month of integration,” explained J. Francisco Meléndez, Revenue Assurance, Fraud Prevention and Payments Manager for Viva Aerobus.

In March 2018, Viva Aerobus transported more than 700,000 passengers, an increase of 32% over the same period during the previous year. Moreover, during Q1 2018, more than 2.1 million passengers had flown with the company, an increase of 30% when compared to Q1 2017.
