Digital payment options have risen in terms of importance, year over year, for all Canadian age segments — but most apparently for millennials. Baby boomers are gaining interest in digital payments but a bit more slowly than their younger peers.

Young millennials are twice as likely to use their financial institution’s app for P2P payments.

When it comes to making person-to-person (P2P) payments, Canadian millennials are predictably the most active users of this capability. They’re also twice as likely to use their financial institution’s mobile app (as opposed to an outside option like PayPal) to make such a transaction.
