Walgreens Uses FIS Premium Payback to Enhance Rewards Program and Optimize Customer Experience

For more than 25 years, Walgreens has partnered with FIS® for payments technology expertise and consultation on payments goals and strategies. In addition to merchant processing, FIS provides e-payables services and a treasury management platform for Walgreens.
Seamless, frictionless customer experience
Walgreens is always seeking new and innovative technology to help their team with payments strategy and goals. The company wanted a solution that would enhance the myWalgreens rewards program and optimize the customer experience with a seamless and frictionless experience at the point of sale.
In 2021, Walgreens selected FIS Premium Payback, a real-time loyalty solution that turns unused rewards points into currency at checkout. FIS Premium Payback connects financial institutions, retailers and loyalty providers to simplify rewards redemption for consumers.
In addition to providing an easy way for customers to redeem their bank’s rewards points, FIS Premium Payback enables cardholders to earn myWalgreens rewards on their purchases. Walgreens was able to implement FIS Premium Payback with their existing point-of-sale systems, terminals and rewards program logic, reducing the integration effort.

“Speed is very important to Walgreens, so we wanted to implement a solution that wouldn’t interfere with our point-of-sale processing time. This solution was able to do that,” says Toby-Ann Young, payments manager for Walgreens. “FIS Premium Payback aligns really well with the Walgreens vision and brand.”
